All Is Not Lost…

A headline in today’s paper was ‘Jamaica to grow rice‘, that truly surprised me. if we were not experiencing a food crisis, i highly doubt something like this would have been considered, we would still continue to depend on Guyana and other countries for our staples.

What this food crisis is doing is forcing us to be self reliant; and for that i am very  happy, after we realize that products are getting to expensive to be imported, then we will have no choice but to produce our own. And after that happens, we’ll have more than we need, and from that we’ll start exporting; instant gratification. So yes, i hope things continue to get expensive, it will force us to become creative, from sorrow coms joy.

  • Hey Gordon,

I agree with your viewpoint - time to get self-sufficient as much as possible. In the Caribbean we have so much fertile land to grow our own! I just wrote about Eating Local and Farming as solutions to the local food crisis in my blog. Check it out and let me know what you think!
